OVERVIEW
QUARANTINE: THE LONERS is the first book in a suspenseful and thrilling trilogy based on teenagers fighting to survive and escape from their very own high school military quarantine after being infected with a virus that goes with their puberty. First, all of the teachers and other adults in the school die. Then chaos erupts, and the book shows the story from David Thorpe's perspective. David used to be the quarterback of the high school football team, but after his mom died. David and the rest of his family fell into disarray, so David quit football and lost his "jock" privileges, thus making him a loner. David was now a senior, and Will, a freshman. David also finds out that his girlfriend Hillari, was cheating on him with Sam, his friend from the football team. After David finds this out at a party, which both Hillari and Sam are at, he punches Sam out and leaves the party. The next day, on the 1st day of school, David's English teacher dies right in front of him, and then an explosion rocks the school. 1 year later, all of the kids in the high school have formed gangs and tribes based on social cliques, such as Pretty Ones, Skaters, Freaks, or Nerds. The book flash forwards to the Drop, a time when military personnel use a helicopter to drop tons of food and supplies from the hole in the roof down into the quad. Only this time, they put a booth in which you can test to see if you still have the virus. A nosebleed is primary starter sign that the virus is leaving a teen's body, and once the virus is gone, that teen would no longer be immune to the virus, so the other teens could kill that teen. Everybody in the school calls the virus leaving your body graduating, as you can finally escape your worst nightmare, high school. I enjoyed this book because they had lots of action and drama with Sam, Hillari, David, Will, who is his younger brother, and Lucy, the outcast pretty one. I don't want to spoil anymore, so sit back, fasten your seatbelt, and enjoy reading Quarantine: The Loners.
